Publication fees
All articles are open access and freely available online, immediately upon publication. This is possible by an article-processing charge (APC) that covers the range of publishing services we provide. The APC, payable when your final manuscript is editorially accepted and after publication, is charged to the corresponding author. As the corresponding author of the manuscript, you are responsible for making or arranging the payment upon editorial acceptance of the manuscript. The publication fees for AJHS are 50,000 JPY per article (Tax excluded). Publications from foreign countries will be converted by the exchange rate on the specified date. Payment is due within 30 days of the manuscript receiving editorial acceptance. Quotation, invoice and delivery slip will be emailed to the corresponding author.
Revenue sources
The AJHS is a self-financed journal. Article publication charges levied to authors is the only source of income which is utilized in maintaining the administrative cost. Operating expense including the cost of holding an academic conference, web presence, and staff salaries is supported by the APC.
Waivers and Discounts
If the submitted paper is judged by the AJHS Editorial Board to be of high quality that can contribute to the field of "Human Services", the APC will be fully (100% discount) or partially exempted where all authors are based in low-income countries. See full low-income countries list's URL below*. Requests for waivers or discounts should be made during initial submission and not after an article has been accepted.
